Tucson-based Miraval Resort & Spa plans to open its second resort and spa, at a historic estate in New Jersey.
Miraval at Natirar is expected to open in 2014 at the 500-acre Natirar estate in Somerset County, N.J.
Miraval is owned by AOL founder and former Chairman Steve Case and his wife, Jean.
The planned spa marks the next phase of the Natirar resort development project, which so far consists of the Ninety Acres Culinary Center, a 12-acre sustainable farm, banquet and catering facilities, and a private membership club. Billionaire Richard Branson was a partner in early efforts to develop the resort property.
When complete, Miraval at Natirar will boast an 86-room luxury hotel with suites in Natirar's historic mansion, a 20,000-square-foot spa, a 10,000-square- foot wellness pavilion, a yoga center, a restaurant featuring Miraval spa cuisine, and meeting facilities. A full lineup of Miraval health and wellness activities also will be available, the company said.
