The Golden Corral buffet restaurant near the Tucson Mall is no longer serving fresh-sliced roast beef and homemade yeast rolls.
The all-you-can-eat restaurant, long a fixture on Wetmore Road and First Avenue, closed in late June.
Restaurant officials said the eatery, a mecca of fried chicken, pot roast, mashed potatoes and peach cobbler, was clobbered by the onslaught of new eateries muscling their way into the area.
In the past year or less, the Tucson Mall, just up the block on Wetmore Road, welcomed a host of new restaurants including the newly opened Italian chain Brio Tuscan Grille, Cheesecake Factory, the casual California Pizza Kitchen and Shane's Rib Shack.
