On an August day that was hot enough to bake a cookie on the sidewalk, the family rock act of R5 — the Lynch sibs including “Dancing With the Stars” phenom Riker and Disney Star idol Ross — tightly filled the makeshift concert space at Pima County Fairgrounds with oodles of squealing tweens and teens.
As the kiddos oohed and aahed and screamed at the top of their lungs with every hip twist and pop lyric, their parents sat in the hot-to-the-touch metal bleachers taking it all in.
It will be much cooler when R5 — add in big sis Rydel, second eldest Rocky and best friend Ellington Ratliff to the mix — take the stage Monday, Feb. 1, at Tucson Music Hall, 260 S. Church Ave., stop No. 7 on the second leg of the band’s “Sometime Last Night” tour.
This is going to be a bona fide two-fer; we were on their radar when they did leg one of “Last Night” last summer.

Expect to hear cuts off “Last Night,” which came out weeks before they played the Pima Fairgrounds last August, as well as material from their earlier releases. Their shows are high-energy affairs as the Lynch family struts, leaps and races around to fan favorites including “All Night,” “Smile,” “Let’s Not Be Alone Tonight” and “Counting Stars.”
Monday’s concert starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $33 to $47.50 through ticketmaster.com
