CBS newsman Jeff Glor, a Western New York native, is always looking for a good Buffalo story.
So it is no surprise that the co-anchor of “CBS This Morning: Saturday” plans to highlight the incredible story of the Bills Mafia supporting quarterback Josh Allen and his family after learning of the death of his grandmother, Patricia, Sunday night after Buffalo’s 44-34 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, the contributions to the Oishei Children’s Hospital Foundation have reached more than $446,000 in memory of Allen’s grandmother, who died last weekend in California at age 80.
The hospital has reported that more than 21,000 individual donors have contributed – many giving gifts of $17, which represents Allen’s jersey number.
It isn't the first time Glor has done a story about the charitable efforts of the Bills Mafia.

In 2018, when he was the anchor of "CBS Evening News," Glor interviewed former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton after the Bills Mafia donated to his foundation after his late touchdown pass defeated the Baltimore Ravens and sent the Bills to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. At the time, most of the about $330,000 in donations to the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation were also in increments of $17, representing the end of the Bills playoff drought.
In a text, Glor said Saturday's story is tentatively expected to air around 8:30 a.m. Saturday and will “just be a couple of minutes.”
Glor didn’t have time to get to Buffalo for a formal interview. It would have been difficult to do an in-person interview anyway because the Bills and CBS are in testing protocols because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The program runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday on WIVB-TV (Channel 4), the local CBS affiliate.
Oishei Children’s Hospital is one of Allen’s favorite charities. He is donating 17% of the proceeds from Josh’s Jaqs cereal to the hospital and has frequently visited children there.
In response to the initial groundswell of donations, the hospital’s website was updated to include a “$17” giving button draped in Bills colors. Contributions can be made by visiting www.kaleidahealth.org/foundations/childrens/donate.
