Pregnant women and new moms interested in learning about breastfeeding at home and at work will be the focus of a free health fair hosted by the Pima County Health Department August 7.
“We have a lot of work to do in creating a culture that not only supports, but encourages, women to breastfeed their baby. This is especially true for women in the work place and is a challenge for all of us as employers,” said Dr. Francisco Garcia, Director of the Pima County Health Department, who will also be speaking at the event.
Lots of information and resources on the importance of a healthy start and how children grow will be available for moms and dads.
Some of the highlights include an interactive and healthy playtime for babies and parents, free children's books, free whooping cough vaccinations for uninsured and underinsured adults and raffle prizes.

Dads get free stuff, too. A gift bag filled with essentials for dads will be given to all who attend.
While a special focus is given to breast feeding, the fair is all about building and supporting healthy families.
Information on local hospital birthing centers, AHCCCS and the Marketplace and tips on how to make healthy snacks that are fun and easy will be readily available.
Feel free to bring the whole family.
The fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. August 7 at Abrams Public Health Center, 3950 S. Country Club Road.
