The Tucson Unified School District appears to be poised to name a new principal for it’s largest high school.
The hiring of a new leader for Tucson High Magnet School is listed on a draft agenda for the July 8 Governing Board meeting.
TUSD has been on the hunt for a replacement since Clarice Clash announced in the spring that she would not be returning for the upcoming school year.
Clash, who has previously served as director of high school leadership, told her staff that she would be pursuing other “professional career choices” within the district. At this point, Clash has not been appointed by the Governing Board to any other leadership position.
Clash has served as principal of Tucson High since 2012, taking over for Abel Morado after he was appointed assistant superintendent of secondary leadership. As principal, she earned a salary of more than $106,000 a year.

In other business, the Governing Board will also vote on whether to approve the retirement of Morado. The change is more of a formality for Morado who has enough years of service to retire, but plans to return to work in the same capacity.
Tucson High, 400 N. Second Ave., is home to more than 3,000 students.
