A Tucson man who shot and killed his family and himself on May 12 was found on the sofa covered with blood with a 9 mm handgun in his lap when police entered the home, authorities said.
Christopher Carrillo, who family members said had a history of mental illness, fatally shot his brother and parents in their bedrooms and his 17-year-old niece in the hallway of the southside home, a police report obtained by the Arizona Daily Star shows.
His four victims were identified as his parents, Raúl Carrillo, 58, and Karen Saari, 53; his brother, Erick Carrillo, 32; and his niece, Isela Rodriguez, 17, who was Raul and Karen’s granddaughter.
Dispatchers received a 911 call shortly before 6 p.m. on May 12 from Isela's boyfriend, who went to the house to meet her, looked inside and saw a body with obvious trauma.
When police arrived, they attempted to initiate contact using a public address system, calling for Christopher to come out of the house. When they received no response, they used a ballistic shield and body cam attached to an extendable baton to enter the house, the police report said.

Upon entering, they discovered Christopher dead on the couch and saw Isela's body in the hallway leading to the bedroom. Upon further exploration of the house, police found Raul on his bed, covered in blankets, and Karen on the floor of the bedroom they shared.
Erick was discovered hunched over his bed, according to police.
Isela's boyfriend told police that at about 2 p.m. that day, Christopher came by his apartment to pick up Isela and activate her cell phone. Christopher was driving his mother's Toyota Camry at the time, which the boyfriend said was unusual as he wasn't allowed to drive the car, the police report said.
By 5:15 p.m., Isela wasn't answering her phone, leading her boyfriend to drive to the Carrillo house to check on her. He said when he arrived, the security gate on the property was left partially open, the security screen was unlocked and the front door was open. When he looked inside the front door he saw Christopher's body in the front room with a gun in his hand.
The boyfriend said that he was unaware that anyone in the residence had a gun, but later told police that Christopher had an "AK" (rifle) about a year and a half ago but that it had been stolen from the house, the report said.
Some family members last week said Christopher suffered from mental issues but they didn't know if he was seeking treatment. They said he loved his family and were shocked he would harm anyone.
When the mother of Erick's two children met with officers at the police station later, she told them that both Erick and Christopher had mental problems and she had stopped sending her children over to see them. She also told officers that Christopher had made some disturbing posts on Facebook, the report said.
It's unclear at this time what caused Christopher to kill his family and where he obtained the gun that he used to do so. His Facebook page shows numerous photos with guns, including several with him holding a military style rifle.
