A man is believed to have shot his live-in girlfriend to death as well as their newborn son before turning the gun on himself early this morning, Tucson police say.
Police answering calls about gunfire about 1:30 a.m. found the body of Heather Marcucci, 34, near a car in the front yard of her home in the 1300 block of North Bonanza Avenue, behind an apartment complex on East Speedway near North Harrison Road, Sgt. Pete Dugan said in a news release.
Nearby, officers found the body of 7-week-old Jase David DeBaker, still strapped into his car seat, police said.
Officers then found the body of Jeremy DeBaker, 21, who is believed to killed the woman and baby before committing suicide.
Two dogs also were found fatally shot.
Police initially went to the apartment complex after several emergency calls reporting gunfire. The Tucson police helicopter unit, however, soon spotted bodies in the front yard of the house, which adjoins the complex.
