The Tucson Police Department is investigating a possible homicide at a north-side apartment complex.
Police responded to the Fox Point Apartments at 3700 N. Campbell Ave. to follow up on a welfare check call that came in at about 10:55 a.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a police spokesman.
The complex is located in a neighborhood off Campbell, north of East Prince Road.
The apartment maintenance crew called 911 to report foul odor coming from a unit, Widmer said.
Upon arrival, officers found the body of a 79-year-old man, who the police believe is a resident of the apartment unit. The man's body had obvious signs of trauma, which is indicative of a homicide, Widmer said.
The man is believed to have been deceased for "at least a few days," according to the police spokesman. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition.
