Pima County Superior Court Probate Judge Kyle A. Bryson has been appointed presiding judge of the court.
He replaces Judge Sarah R. “Sally” Simmons, who will leave the post at the end of the month.
Bryson was appointed to Pima County Superior Court in March 2010 by then-Gov. Jan Brewer. He also was presiding judge of the family law bench in 2010 and 2011.
Prior to his appointment as judge, Bryson served as a court commissioner and judge pro tempore for more than nine years.
Bryson graduated from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas in 1988. He also completed a bachelor’s degree in 1981 from Kansas State University.
Bryson previously worked in private practice with the Tucson firm Parrish and Vingelli.

Simmons has served as presiding judge of Pima County since May 2011. She will move to the civil bench once Bryson takes over as presiding judge.
