This video, shared courtesy of Arizona Highways Magazine, was made by Arizona Highways at Tucson's Etherton Gallery in March 2026, where photographer Jack Dykinga was presented with the Order of the Condor of the Californias, recognizing the contribution to conservation made by Dykinga with his photography.
The presenter and founder of the award, photographer and renowned conservationist and artist Patricio Robles Gil of Mexico City, sculpted the condor presented to Dykinga in the video. The title of the award refers to the return of the California Condors from near-extinction in both the United States and Mexico. The massive successful effort to return the condor with genetic diversity depends on the holistic cross-border approach to the reintroduction. Robles Gil and Vance Martin of the Wild Foundation, also a recipient, will also present the award to Kristine Tompkins for her and her late husband's conservation work in Chile.

Presenting the award, Robles Gil said, "Jack, you are one of the people most deserving of recognition for your life commitment, for your work that has inspired so many people."
Robert Stieve, editor-in-chief of Arizona Highways, said that Dykinga had been contributing to Arizona Highways since 1984. He said Dykinga's work is so distinctive that he is "one of only a couple photographers" whose work he immediately recognizes.
Dykinga, who won a Pulitzer Prize in Chicago in 1971, previously served as photo editor of the Arizona Daily Star.
