Gov. Jan Brewer has appointed Joan Wagener as a judge in Pima County Superior Court.
Wagener will fill the seat left by retiring Judge Ted Borek. She will serve on the juvenile bench.
Wagener previously was a court commissioner in family and juvenile court.
Prior to that, she was in private practice.
In addition, Wagener helped edit and update portions of the Juvenile Bench Book and Family Law Bench Book; and has lectured on divorce, termination of parental rights, children’s records laws and youth participation in court hearings.
Wagener earned a law degree in 1987 and a bachelor’s in political science in 1985, both from the University of Arizona.
She was admitted to practice in Arizona in 1988.
