A man carrying a katana sword in front of a Tucson school prompted it to go into lockdown this week, authorities say.
The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. Monday at Calvary Chapel Christian School, 8725 E. Speedway, when a man spotted near the entrance refused to leave, an initial complaint filed in Pima County Justice Court says.
Lewis Decordial was asked by school security to leave the property on several occasions prior to this incident. At some point Decordial pulled a katana out of his backpack, causing the security officer to send the school into lockdown, the complaint says.
The security guard was able to get the blade away from Decordial before he fled, the complaint says.
Officers found Decordial at a nearby bus stop, where he was taken into custody. Decordial was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of disorderly conduct with a weapon and disruption of an educational institution, the complaint said. Bond was set at $25,000.
