$25K in grants will fund workshops about water
Six grants totaling $24,800 have been awarded by the Central Arizona Project to nonprofits that provide public education programs on water and environment resources throughout Central and Southern Arizona.
Of that amount, $4,800 was awarded to Tucson Unified School District to fund substitute teachers, teaching materials and lunch for 40 sixth-grade teachers to attend two Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) workshops, on how to incorporate a local perspective on water sources, use and conservation.

AARP tax help being consolidated
Eastside City Hall will no longer be an AARP income tax preparation site. Federal and state income tax forms and booklets will continue to be provided in the main lobby from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, beginning in February.

AARP is consolidating two East Side tax preparation sites. Income tax preparation will be at the Udall Center, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road.

Elections board seeks Kino bond ballot input
The Pima County Division of Elections is accepting arguments advocating or opposing any ballot measure related to the May 16 Special Bond Election for Psychiatric Care Facilities. The bonds would fund a psychiatric hospital and an emergency room for psychiatric care at UPH Kino Hospital. Any person may file an argument of not more than 300 words at the Pima County Division of Elections, 130 W. Congress St., eighth floor, Tucson, AZ 85701.
At the time of filing, a fee of $100 for paper and printing of the argument is required. People interested in filing an argument favoring or opposing any ballot measure must file no later than 5 p.m. Feb. 15. For more information, call 740-4260.
Scholarships available for students in TUSD
Tucson Federal Credit Union and the Pima Community College Foundation will provide 10 $1,000 Moving Forward scholarships to TUSD seniors.
Awards will be made for the term beginning in August.
The Moving Forward scholarship is for students who have overcome adversity, have a strong motivation to continue their education and who would not have the opportunity to attend college without financial assistance.
Application forms are available at TUSD high schools and are due at the Educational Enrichment Foundation, 3809 E. Third St., Tucson, AZ 85716 by 3 p.m. March 17.
Several other scholarships are also available to TUSD students. They include Raytheon Excellence in Education, The Southwestern Foundation for Education and Historical Preservation, Funk/Cordell Education Fund and the Jose Marquez Vail Award.
