Democrat incumbent Matt Heinz has jumped out to an early lead in the supervisor race for Pima County's District 2, early results Tuesday night show.
Heinz had about 67% of vote in the initial release of vote results. Republican challenger John Backer had about 34% of vote so far.
Results so far come from early ballots and were released Tuesday night by the Pima County Elections Department via the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office’s results page.
Heinz, an emergency room doctor and former state lawmaker, won the post in 2020. A second term would run through 2028.
Backer, won the Republican nomination by taking over 60% of the vote in the July 30 primary.
