Heroes recognition event set for Oct. 13
The Marana Foundation for Educational Excellence's ninth annual Heroes Recognition Dinner/Dance will be held Oct. 13.
Tickets are $35 per person and must be purchased by Oct. 5. The event, which includes a reception, dinner and awards ceremony, will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Omni Tucson National Golf Resort & Spa.
More than 30 people will be honored for their contributions to the Marana Unified School District. For tickets and more information, call 603-9231.
Romero named Amphi's Teacher of the Year
Gabe Romero of Amphitheater Public Schools will be honored as a Teacher of the Year at the end of the month.
Romero, a physical education teacher at Wilson K-8 School, received Teacher of the Year recognition from the Arizona Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Romero and several other Tucson-area teachers were selected after being nominated and completing an application documenting and demonstrating their teaching practices.
