A former Marana Pizza Hut will soon house an outpost of the popular Bisbee Breakfast Club.
Owner Chris Reece plans to open the restaurant, at 4131 W. Ina Road, by Dec. 1 after the building's interior gets a complete makeover. Reece is hoping to erase the building's pizza past.
"We're going to do our best to bring some of the Bisbee feel," Reece said. "(Transforming) a former Pizza Hut is going to be a challenge so that people don't walk into it and think 'pizza.'"
Reece, who owns four Jerry Bob's restaurants in Tucson, bought the Bisbee Breakfast Club last February. The restaurant, located in a historic building at 75A Erie St. in Bisbee, has been around since 2005.
It didn't take long for it to become a popular Bisbee hangout and the go-to-place for breakfast and lunch, with a menu that goes beyond eggs over easy with bacon. Among popular dishes are eggs scrambled with sautéed red onions, spinach, black olives, tomatoes and feta cheese, and the coffee-charred chicken breast salad.

The Marana restaurant will be a test to see if the concept flies outside Bisbee, Reece said. If it is successful, he said he would like to take Bisbee Breakfast Club to other cities.
R&R Barbecue plans to offer lunch delivery
R&R Barbecue on East Speedway will begin lunchtime delivery in late October.
The restaurant will deliver within a three-mile radius of its location at 1101 N. Wilmot Road at East Speedway, said owner Robert Ramos. Deliveries will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
There will be no delivery charge and no minimum order, and every lunch meal comes with a free, fresh baked Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie.
R&R also recently rolled out its twofer dinner special: three-course dinner for two for $24.99 from 4 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. For more information, call 886-1900.
The specials are only good at the Wilmot and Speedway location. R&R also owns a restaurant in Rita Ranch.
Coffeehouse moving, expanding its menu
In just over two years, Cartel Coffee Lab has built a loyal following for its fresh-roasted specialty coffees and teas.
A comfortable stream of regulars and a healthy dose of occasional customers come to the 1,400-square-foot storefront at 2502 N. Campbell Ave. for a cup of java and a pastry.
In early December, the Cartel is moving a couple doors down in the same shopping plaza into a space nearly double the size at 2,600 square feet. In addition to pastry and coffee, it will offer a menu of salads and sandwiches for lunch and dinner, craft beers and wine.
Salads and sandwiches will run $6 to $9, said Mark Harrell, who owns the shop with his wife, Jenni, and their partners Jason and Amy Silberschlag. The two couples have three other shops in the Phoenix area, where the Silberschlags live.
The Harrells opened the shop in 2009 under the name Avenue Coffee. A year later they joined hands with the Silberschlags and changed the name.
Cartel Coffee has been around four years, Harrell said. The coffee is roasted at Cartel's Tempe retail store.
New Polish restaurant opens on Broadway
A space on East Broadway that once housed a Japanese eatery last week became home to a Polish restaurant.
Robert Stawicki opened the Polish Cottage, 4520 E. Broadway, last Friday, serving up a half-dozen varieties of pierogies alongside classic Polish dishes like bigos, a hearty hunter's stew, all from recipes that have been in his family for generations.
Some of the dishes on Polish Cottage's menu also are served in Stawicki's Polish and Italian restaurant in his native Poland, he said. Four or five times a year, Stawicki returns to Poland and his restaurant, which he opened in 1998 and continues to run with a partner.
Stawicki has been in Tucson for 10 years. In 2008, he and a partner opened the Polish/European eatery Amber Restaurant and Gallery on East Tanque Verde Road. Stawicki said he left last year over creative differences.
Polish Cottage is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from noon to 7 p.m. Sundays. Prices range from $5.50 to $9.50.
