Road Trip USA - or should I shout "ROAD TRIIIIPPP!!!" with the excitement of a teenager and the voice of an old fart?
Folks in my generation relate to those words in a very positive way. When we hear them we smile as we remember the dreams of our youth.
I have been blessed to have many friends who've shared part of their lives to enrich mine during road trips.
And now I am blessed to get to share another road trip. This year the number of participants grows as our extended family matures.
For those of you in the baby boomer generation, this is about us. For those of you who are younger, I hope you get to experience your own road trips.
For me, road trips have always been about adventure. Remember that the expansion of nationwide roadways really started happening only in the 1950s and '60s. I can remember the Long Island Expressway being built at the end of my street back in the late 1950s.

Roads meant freedom and were a vital part of America after the trials and tribulations of a World War, the second in as many generations.
National highways meant getting away and being able to see another part of our world. They offered endless possibilities of places to go and even more endless journeys and adventures on the way to all that we can be.
Road trips let me spend time with this majestic country that has given me, the grandson of an immigrant, so many opportunities.
Road trips also have allowed me to share experiences with people in my life who have taught me so many lessons.
Looking back, people with whom I've gone on road trips were all folks at the same place in life at the same time. Somehow, some way, we were meant to share our individual journeys together.
When you read this, I will have embarked on Road Trip No. 5 in my life.
Looking forward to sharing it with you.
Enjoy the journey,
Bob
