A lightning strike sparked a fire in rough terrain in the Santa Catalinas Monday afternoon.
The fire, which began at 3:30 p.m. in Buster Mountain, burned about 10 acres on the western end of the range, above Catalina State Park, said Heidi Schewel, a Coronado National Forest spokeswoman.
"It is in the Pusch Ridge wilderness and it is burning on the top third of the mountain in rocky terrain in a remote area," Schewel said.
The blaze is burning in short grass with a moderate rate of spread. "We will monitor the fire through the night," Schewel said. "The ignition was natural, and the fire is doing what it is intended to do."
"There is rain all around the fire. It may burn out, or be put out by the rain," Schewel said.
"We will reassess (Tuesday), and if we need to take action we will take action," said Schewel.
