President Joe Biden listens as first lady Jill Biden speaks during a Fourth of July barbecue with active-duty military service members and their families on the South Lawn of the White House.
Biden spending trillions and inflation
I have read numerous Democrats’ letters to the Star stating that Biden did not cause the 40-year inflation high experienced during his Presidential term. In March 2021 he signed into law the American Rescue Plan infusing $1.9 trillion into the economy. In November 2021, he signed into law the Infrastructure Act infusing $1.2 trillion into the economy. Then in August 2022 he signed the Inflation Reduction Act that infused $783 billion into the economy. But of course none of these trillions injected into the economy so quickly had any effect on inflation? That is called having a willing suspension of disbelief. Add to all this, Biden attempted to do his Build Back Better deal, which the Congressional Budget Office estimated would add $6 trillion to the federal deficit if included federal programs did not sunset, which they never do. As to Trump inheriting a great economy from Obama, in the 4th quarter of 2016 (last under Obama), the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was a dismal 1.9%.

They weren’t all Nazis
Not all Germans were Nazis. But no Germans were exempt from the horrors of war. Death did not discriminate.
Germany morphed into a malignancy that spawned the Second World War and the Holocaust. A small, often violent minority chose to follow a man with a grand plan and malicious methods, taking along nonbelievers, active anti-Nazis of various stripes and the “comfortably oblivious,” concerned only with their own small worlds.
In our nation now, some follow a man lacking anything but an overdeveloped ego and a grand plan to “Make America Great Again.” His America is a dark and frightening place, a place that America never has been, but, under his rule, may well become.
I urge my fellow citizens to become aware of the dangers this man poses, not only to our democracy and our nation, but to them personally. Remember, not all Americans are Trump supporters, but history, and others, probably won’t distinguish the difference.
Vote for your lives.

How do you respond to a fire hose of lies?
President Biden did not do well at the debate. But, this is not about Joe Biden’s future, it’s about our nation’s future. OMG! Now President Biden has to decide who will lead us to victory over Trump. President Biden has given 50 years of public service to this country. I trust Joe to decide what to do. He is a just and honest man. He will do the right thing for our country. Think of the alternative, the danger is obvious! Joe is not OK. However, we can’t stand for a Trump presidency. Don’t give up on the Democrats.

SCR 1044
Re: the June 30 article “These measures could be on AZ’s ballot in November.”
The June 30 paper contained an article about possibly putting SCR 1044 on the November ballot. This proposition would eliminate the ability of citizens to vote judges out of office.
Supposedly the Judicial Review Board reprimands bad judges. In my opinion the purpose of the judicial Review Board is to maintain the integrity of judges.
According to an Abc15 article on 1/2/2022 97.2% complaints of judges were dismissed by the Judicial Review Board.
When a judge knowingly permits his court-appointed receiver to steal money from one of his properties to pay bills on another and then allows his receiver to assess one property to pay for repairs on another “for the good of the community” in violation of the stipulation in his own court order and the Judicial Review Board says that the judge did nothing wrong.
The only way citizens have to remove corrupt judges is to vote them out. Do not take that right away.

The story behind Roberts’ robe
We are about to enter a MAGA world if Trump wins the election. When you observe the conservative, Christian male members of the Supreme Court with their manure-eating grins, you can see that Donald Trump’s Mussolini arrogance can be contagious.
Following the debate disaster (forgetting all of Trump’s covfefes), and with the SCOTUS decision, MAGAts now believe the election is over and they are beginning their reign. Who needs an election when a royal decree suffices?
As soon as Bishop John Roberts finished reading his decree announcing the Divine Rights of the Megalomaniac Potentate of King Donnie I on Monday, July 1, he criticized and turned to the three women who dissented from Bishop Roberts, telling them, in essence, “Sit down, little ladies.”
In his final condescending criticism of the liberal women, he had the nerve to write, “Our dissenting colleagues exude an impressive infallibility,”
Former U. S. Attorney Joyce Vance replied, “It’s a shame he cannot see himself in the mirror.”

Consider this
With SCOTUS deciding the Presidency enjoys immunity for all official (and quasi-official) acts, the opportunity is upon the Presidency to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
On or before election day, President Biden can authorize the abduction of Donald Trump, his VP, Mike Johnson and any other Republicans that are next in line for Presidential succession, if any. He can isolate them in Guantanamo Bay. If Congress tries to act, he can claim executive privilege. He may choose to invoke martial law. He would have to remain in office because ‘Who knows where Trump is?’
If Biden loses the election, he can decide the election was invalid to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” as an official act. Possible due to undefined official acts proscribed by SCOTUS.
Improbable, yes, but possible.

Trump as a figurehead
I think the real villains here are the cunning, far right so-called “think tanks” who are planning to pull the strings if Mr. Trump gets elected. This includes the Heritage Foundation, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, the NRA,The Freedom Foundation and the authors of the 900 page PROJECT 2025. Project 2025’s advisory board consists of a broad coalition of over 80 right wing organizations. (Please read a summary of what they are planning at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project-2025. The people involved in these organizations know Trump for what he is, a not too bright, charismatic loudmouth that has no shame about telling lies. Somehow by using these “talents”, he has managed to mesmerize a certain segment of the population. These “think tanks” know that Trump will do whatever it is they ask of him, as long as they feign their loyalty and let him take the credit.
Please think, please vote. Our way of life is at stake.

Crash fatalities
In 2022, based on the most recent data from AZ DOT, Arizona saw 1,294 crash fatalities. That marks a 32% increase from 2019, causing an estimated state economic loss exceeding $12.3 billion due to fatal accidents alone.
Forty nine percent of those drivers were deemed to have taken no improper action, and 86% showed no apparent influence. Yet, nearly 1,300 lives were still lost.
Multi-vehicle crashes account for nearly 84% of all accidents in the state.
The issues surrounding I-11 and Tucson have little to do with horny toads and sagebrush. It has everything to do with saving innocent lives in our city and across the state by redirecting unnecessary and dangerous commercial traffic away from our city areas.
I-11 will be crucial to reducing fatalities across Pima County and the state, and MUST be installed to save lives. Tucson, think of your family, and vote for a Pima County Supervisor who will support this life-saving highway plan.

Many are ‘above the law’
Re: the July 5 article “Nobody is above the law.”
Once again in the letters to the editor another writer has quoted the inaccurate assumption that “no man is above the law”.
Once again I respectfully disagree.
First a person must be charged by a member of law enforcement with a crime.
Second, the prosecutor must bring the defendant to court. They may refuse to prosecute.
Third the judge must allow the defendant to appear in his courtroom.
So, with all the items that must fall into place for someone to be convicted, I would say that there are more people above the law than subject to it.

Thank you, President Biden
Democrat letter writers are now praising President Biden for being a great guy and all that he has done but suggesting that it is time for him to step aside. I wanted to thank him also. Thanks, President Biden, for your deliberate open border policies that allowed millions to enter illegally, some went on to rape and murder little girls and plan a terrorist attack. Thanks for the massive government spending that caused inflation to skyrocket and prices to do the same. Thanks for the EPA mandates that will keep me from buying a future desired gasoline powered car. Thanks for allowing your son Hunter and brother Jim to peddle your name doing foreign and domestic shady business deals making millions. Thanks for getting that CIA letter written claiming your son’s laptop was Russian disinformation, so you could call it garbage during a debate with Trump. And thanks for not putting our country first by resigning knowing you have worsening dementia.

Is diversity good?
Good citizens join volunteer groups for uprooting buffel grass, an invasive plant species from abroad. The federal government is working to protect a native fish species in the Colorado River from a non-native smallmouth bass species. Among humans, psychopaths are present in every society at about the 1 % level. Can we say that the diversity that they provide is good? Not every example of diversity is good.

Crystal-clear choice
By declaring presidential immunity, the Supreme Court has cleared up any doubt we may have had about what is at stake in this election cycle. The choice is between a criminal former president who will have the power to implement an autocracy or a president who will continue to respect our Constitution. As a patriot, I will vote for the person who will defend our democracy and the freedom to make choices in life.

Help us Jill
I am convinced that President Biden’s wife is the only person who can convince him to drop out of the race.
I respect President Biden but he is failing mentally and if he will not step down I fear Donald Trump will win.
This time around we will be getting a vengeful Trump who will want to “Rule the World”. Our only hope as Democrats is for Biden to step down!

Are we doing enough?
I found myself on the edge of my seat in the chilling account of the devastating gas leak in Bhopal. A black plume comprising twenty-five staggering tons of Methyl Isocyanate gas bloomed into the air in December 1984. Thousands died immediately and many more succumbed to the aftermath of the fatal gas intoxication in the ensuing weeks. The survivors in Bhopal suffer from a range of debilitating illnesses and the children who continue to be born have high rates of congenital abnormalities. Forty years later, the forgotten people of Bhopal are still waiting for justice. The hidden stories of the ailing children born with missing limbs and impaired speech and vision amongst other morbidities are a rallying cry for corporate accountability. Universal environmental standards that improve corporate responsibility and demote negligent behavior are key to a cleaner, safer, and healthier tomorrow.

Contrasting the parties
The Democrats upon concluding that Biden was not up to the task are working to replace him as a candidate for the presidency. The Republicans, despite all indications of Trump’s moral turpitude, felonies and mental issues continue to support him. Conclusion: Democrats care about this country. Republicans care only about themselves.

Vote for the ‘wise guy’
With age comes wisdom and President Biden has the political wisdom along with common sense and years of experience as a Senator, Vice-President and President. The other guy is a useful tool for two Conservative power houses, the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society. The Presidential fight isn’t between two men, its between a man with values, a conscience and experience wrapped up with love for this country and two groups of rich men who want more wealth, power and control. They have had a good start with their 6-3 majority on the Supreme Court. Read their Manifesto, Project 2025, it’s an eye-opener! With the other guy’s potential for election, they plan on taking over all three branches of government with power resting solely with their puppet president who has basic immunity. What could go wrong? “We the people” will never be the same. Realize the fight and understand what’s at stake. Vote for the “wise” guy!

Trump’s Border Policy
Re: the July 7 article “Trump’s border policy: Speak loudly and carry no stick.”
In a recent diatribe against President Trump, Robert Kelly wrote regarding America’s border with Mexico that: (the border) “It is America’s Maginot Line and just as ineffective.” The fact of the matter is that the Maginot Line was completely effective is keeping the Nazis out. Instead they German Army invaded Belgium in a surprise paratrooper attack capturing that country’s main defense line. Earlier Belgium turned down France’s offer to reinforce its border. From there the German Blitzkrieg punched through to France trapping British and French forces at Dunkirk and we all know what happened after that.
I might add that if walls are ineffective why did the taxpayers pay $500,000 to build a wall around Biden’s beach house?

Trump in a crisis
The pundits often ask, which presidential candidate would best handle a crisis. Think of the January 6th attack on our nation’s capital (which he instigated). What did Trump do at this time of national emergency? He watched it on TV! What would he do when his friend Putin starts bombing New York City and LA? He’d watch it on TV!!
Inconceivable that millions of Americans would want to reelect this convicted criminal and insurrectionist.
Inconceivable!!
