The public majority overwhelmingly considers trophy hunting decadent and cruel, especially with today’s massive species extinction and habitat destruction. Yet Arizona Game and Fish’s commissioners are also Safari Club (SCI) members, an Arizona-headquartered organization whose in-house lawyers are dedicated to eliminating species protections worldwide to fuel macabre trophy contests of over 320 species, including rare and endangered, for wealthy competitors like their member who lured Cecil the Lion from protected park, to attain top honors.
In Tucson, SCI hosted "Predators Masters" killing competition after New Mexico became disgusted with piles of dead coyotes, bobcat, fox, racoon, cotimundi left rotting in the sun and rejected the group.
SCI recently eliminated a ban to shoot wolves and bears from helicopters, in dens with cubs and the use of leg hold traps in Alaska. With draconian cuts to education and health care, Governor Ducey budgeted over 1 million for SCI’s agenda in 2016 including litigation against species protection .
