As members of the Catholic education community, we wish to offer our support for the efforts of the Arizona Education Association in securing adequate funding for Arizona’s public schools. We believe it is only when our state has a strong public school system and a strong parochial school system that all the children of our state are served.
As fellow taxpayers, we have seen the erosion of public school funding, which deters our students from performing to their full potential. We know how difficult it is to teach without adequate supplies or structures, without those resources and means to acquire those resources. Inspiring students to achieve holistically beyond their own devices can prove to be challenging.
Catholic Social Teaching informs us that people have the right to appropriate work, to be paid a livable wage, the opportunity to have their voices heard and to work together for the common good. Because we have a right to all of these things, it is necessary for us to see the importance of schools, education and educators, as not just a luxury or convenience, but as a necessity to the infrastructure of our society. We are educating our future governors, state senators and legislators, therefore it is imperative that we stand together in solidarity to support this common mission.

For the good of our community, we support the efforts of the Arizona Education Association to force our state legislators and governor to find sustainable funding which will grow with the economy and serve our students, teachers and staff members.
