Officials at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base have stepped back from Monday's housing privatization announcement, saying Actus Lend Lease LLC is not the official housing developer yet.
Instead, the Air Force and Actus are in "exclusive negotiations" and the official announcement is not expected until October or November, D-M officials said.
It is possible, if negotiations go badly, that Actus could not be chosen, said D-M spokeswoman Staff Sgt. Brandy Dupper-Macy.
However, it is most likely Actus will be D-M's housing landlord, she said.
Actus is the only company now in talks to privatize the 383 acres of military housing on site, base officials said in a written statement Thursday.
If negotiations go as planned, Actus will take over the military housing for 50 years and will be responsible for renovating 123 units on site to bring them up to date.

In exchange, Actus or another company will receive the military's "basic housing allowance" for its tenants, military officials said in a release.
After the renovations, all base housing will have been built on or after 1996, D-M officials said in a release. The land will remain under the ownership of the federal government.
Base officials would not release the number of bids there were for the contract or whether Actus was the lowest bidder. This information will be made available after a final agreement is finalized, Dupper-Macy said.
Actus' main business is large-scale real estate transactions such as military housing. The company owns approximately 30,000 homes nationwide, and its primary source of revenue is the U.S. Defense Department.
