Arizona signee Carter Bryant had a quiet offensive night but blocked three shots and picked up four rebounds over a 12-minute appearance in the McDonalds All-American Game on Tuesday in Houston. (Box score link below).
Bryant was first player to sign with the Wildcats out of high school and make the roster for the prestigious all-star game since Tommy Lloyd became the Wildcats' coach in 2021.
He suited up for the West team in its 88-68 loss to the East, while also drawing praise from Yahoo for his defense during McDonalds' practices leading up to the game.
Bryant "passes the eye test at 6-7 and is a player who can get hot from 3-point range," Yahoo's Krysten Peek wrote. "It was what he did on defense that was most impressive during practices, challenging everyone at the rim and establishing position when shots went up."

During Tuesday's game, Bryant took only three shots and hit one of them while getting four defensive rebounds and dishing one assist with two turnovers.
Arizona's two other fall signees, guard Jamari Phillips and center Emmanuel Stephen, did not make the McDonald's roster but both are considered four-star prospects along with new commit Joson Canon, a 2025 guard who is aiming to reclassify so he can join Arizona next season.
Together, Arizona's 2024 recruiting class ranks third nationally in 247's composite team rankings.
Bryant played on the West team along with Washington signee Zoom Diallo, a former UA recruiting target, and a future Big 12 opponent in Kansas signee Flory Bidunga, a center from Indiana. Diallo was scoreless while Bidunga had six points and six rebounds.
The Wildcats this season had two former McDonalds All-Americans, guards Caleb Love and Jaden Bradley, though both transferred to Arizona from other schools. Bradley played in the 2022 McDonalds All-American game and Love was named to the 2020 game, which was not played because of COVID.
The last McDonalds All-Americans who signed with the Wildcats out of high school were guards Nico Mannion and Josh Green, who played in the 2019 game before both spent one year at Arizona in 2019-20.
