James Dugan
• Achievement: One of the best all-around athletes in state history, "The Flagstaff Flyer" made nine all-state teams in three sports (baseball, basketball, football) between 1960 and 1964. Ohio State football coach Woody Hayes recruited Dugan to the Buckeyes, but he lasted just one year before quitting to focus on professional baseball. Dugan played in the Athletics, Giants, Royals and Mets systems, rising to Triple-A, before retiring in 1970. He is a charter member of the Arizona High School Sports Hall of Fame.

• By the numbers: 54 and 32. Dugan still holds Flagstaff High School records for most points (54) and rebounds (32) in a game. Dugan's 54-point game against Winslow High School in 1963 is the 16th-best performance in state history. Fredonia's George McCormick set the record when he scored 75 points against Salome in 1966.
