Former Arizona Wildcats baseball coach and outfielder Jerry Stitt has been named Pima College's assistant athletic director.
Stitt coached the Wildcats to a 157-125 record from 1997 to 2001 after 18 years as an assistant coach.
He has also served as director for the Baja Arizona Baseball Academy and athletic director of Grand Canyon High School. He coached at Salpointe Catholic High School for seven years and was the hitting instructor for the Arizona Diamondbacks' rookie-level team.
Stitt earned his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from the UA.

The Arizona Wildcats passed their first test on the road this season by beating Chicago State in three games in their opening match of the Cal State Bakersfield Invitational.
After playing two tournaments in Tucson to begin the year, the UA's first road match ended as a 25-5, 25-12, 25-16 drubbing of the Cougars. The Wildcats offensive attack produced 40 kills and posted a .421 hitting percentage for the match.
Sophomore middle blocker Stephanie Snow led the UA (6-1) with nine kills, while sophomore setter Paige Weber tallied 34 assists.
The Wildcats have won all six of their matches this season by virtue of three-game sweeps. They wrap up the tournament today with matches against Fresno State at noon and CSU-Bakersfield at 7 p.m.

Duo lifts Wildcats to road victory
Jacqueline Broussard and Renae Cuellar scored five minutes apart in the second half to lead Arizona to a 2-1 victory over host Texas Tech on Friday night in Lubbock.
Broussard came off the bench to score on a rebound after the Texas Tech defense tried to clear the ball in the 56th minute, giving the UA a 1-0 lead. Cuellar converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute to give the Wildcats a cushion.
It was the team-high fourth goal of the season for Cuellar, a freshman from La Puente, Calif. She has scored in three straight games.
UA goalkeeper Chelsea McIntyre allowed a Red Raiders goal in the 88th minute but had four saves in the win. The Cats (4-2) host Michigan on Friday at Murphey Stadium.

Aztecs drop 2 of 3 in Scottsdale event
The Pima College women's volleyball team lost two of three matches Friday on its first day of competition at the Scottsdale Classic Tournament at Scottsdale College.
The Aztecs beat Diablo Valley (Calif.) 25-22, 25-19, but they fell in two games each to Kishwaukee (Ill.) and Grand Rapids (Mich.).
Pima completes tournament play today with three matches.
