Sahuaro senior basketball player Nate Renfro has verbally committed to play for University of San Francisco, where he will join forces with another former Southern Arizona star.
The 6-foot-8-inch swingman picked the Dons over Cal State-Fullerton while on a visit to the Bay Area this weekend. Renfro was originally signed with Grand Canyon University before the Lopes requested his release.

"It's beautiful," Renfro said Sunday evening. "The city itself, I don't think it gets much better than that. It's a beautiful place to live especially if I get to live there for free the next four years."
In going to San Francisco, Renfro will team up with Amphitheater grad Tim Derksen, a junior who hosted him on his visit. The two hadn't met in person until Friday.
"It felt like we'd known each other for a long time, like we grew up together," Renfro said. "He made me feel comfortable out there and it was comforting having another guy from Tucson telling me what it took and how he got to where he is."
Refro said he will sign his national letter of intent as early as Monday. The coaches and the quality academics, he said, is played a role in his decision on top of the location. During his visit, Renfo also had a chance to scrimmage with his future teammates, which also helped.
"The speed and the level of competition could really push me to be the best player i could be," Renfro said.
