The No. 7-ranked Pima College softball team clinched the ACCAC Division II conference championship with a win in the final game of the regular season Saturday.
After losing 13-11 in the first game of a doubleheader against host Phoenix CC, the Aztecs came back to beat the No. 16 Bears 11-7 in the nightcap to earn the No. 1 seed at the region tournament.
Pima (44-7, 36-6) will host regional play this week for the first time since 2010.
Soleil Ponce had six total hits on Saturday, May 2, 2026, as the Pima College softball team split a doubleheader at Phoenix College — clinching the conference title with a victory in the nightcap.
Pima broke open a 5-5 game with six runs in the top of the seventh inning in the clinching win. Soleil Ponce went 6 for 9 on the day with four RBIs. Angelina Dehler was 4 for 7 and drove in five runs.
Pima will host No. 4 Scottsdale CC at 2 p.m. Thursday in a Region I, Division II Tournament game. No. 2 South Mountain CC will battle No. 3 Phoenix at 11 a.m. that day. The region tournament will be double-elimination.

— Pima won the Region I men's team track and field championship for the fourth straight year and fifth time in six seasons Thursday in Mesa. The Aztecs scored 247 points, beating second-place Mesa CC by 15. Pima's Cedric Cade was named the Male Athlete of the Meet by scoring 30 total points in winning the decathlon. Taylor Brown took first in the 200 and 400 meters. The Aztecs will compete at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on May 14-16 in Hobbs, N.M.
— The Pima women's track and field team won its second straight Region 1 title Thursday in Mesa. The Aztecs notched 303 points, breaking the school record by 14. Central Arizona was a distant second with 199. Pima's Hannah Hannah Droeg was the Female Athlete of the Meet by scoring 37.5 points for the team. She won the heptathlon as well as finishing first in the 100-meter hurdles. The Aztecs will compete at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on May 14-16 in Hobbs, N.M.
— The Aztecs placed three baseball players on the First Team All-ACCAC/All-Region squad — Cooper Kruk, Adriel Figueroa-Brito and Mike Jones. Kruk hit .378 with nine homers, 38 RBIs and 38 runs. Figueroa-Brito batted .382 with 38 RBIs, 50 runs and 28 stolen bases. Jones hit .350 with 36 RBIs and 25 runs. Pima finished the season 28-25, just missing postseason play.
