There were other such moments unfamiliar to the venerable home of Manchester United on Tuesday, when chants of "U-S-A!" echoed for the Americans' 1-0 win over North Korea in front of 29,522 fans - easily the largest crowd ever to occupy the familiar red seats for a women's game.
"The worm at Old Trafford! Are you kidding me?" Solo said.
The victory gave the U.S. team first place in its group with three wins in three games, the first time the Americans have ever swept their group opponents in Olympic play. They were already assured a berth in the next round entering the game, and they'll now move on to Newcastle for a quarterfinal match on Friday against New Zealand.

Judo
A female judo fighter from Saudi Arabia was cleared to wear a form of headscarf in the Olympics after a compromise was reached that respects the "cultural sensitivity" of the Muslim kingdom.
Judo officials had said they would not let Wojdan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shahrkhani compete in a headscarf because it was against the principles of the sport and raised safety concerns. But an agreement was reached after several days of IOC-brokered talks between the International Judo Federation and the Saudi Olympic Committee, allowing her to compete Friday in the heavyweight division.
Tennis
Novak Djokovic outclassed Andy Roddick in the second round of the Olympics at Wimbledon, beating him 6-2, 6-1 under the Centre Court roof.
Whereas Roddick was done in only 54 minutes, No. 5-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France advanced by winning the longest set in Olympic history. He beat Milos Raonic of Canada 6-3, 3-6, 25-23. The final set lasted three hours and 257 points.
Venus Williams swept two matches in less time. She won the first match on Centre Court in singles and teamed with sister Serena in doubles to win the day's finale on remote Court 12 before an overflow crowd.

Field hockey
The rankings say the United States beating Argentina qualifies as a significant field hockey upset.
The Americans disagree.
Shannon Taylor scored late in the first half, and the U.S. survived some frantic final moments to topple Argentina 1-0 in women's field hockey, a win that essentially kept alive the Americans' medal chances.
"I don't think we think about things in terms of upsets any more," said U.S. goalie Amy Swensen, who kicked aside one point-blank chance by the world's second-ranked team late in the second half and got plenty of help from teammates down the stretch as well. "It's wins and losses, and we're just trying to win as many as we can right now."
Both teams are 1-1 in Group B.
