I commend Rep. Tom O’Halleran for voting “no” on the House budget resolution. I hope he will play an active role in slowing down the actual tax bill and exposing it as a scam. The congressman views himself as a problem-solver who works across political lines, and while I certainly support compromise, his vague stance on certain aspects of this bill is worrisome.
Does he believe in trickle-down economics? Does he support increasing income inequality? Repealing the estate tax would do precisely that. Does he favor lowering the rate on “pass through” income? Repealing the alternative minimum tax (AMT)? Slashing critical social programs like Medicaid and Medicare?Budgets require spending cuts, but agencies like the EPA are vital to the health of Americans. How does the Congressman feel about cutting spending on the military? We already spend more on defense than the top eight countries combined. Specifics, please.
