Stanley Inc. on Monday inaugurated its new Tucson Passport Center, the State Department's newest passport printing and mailing center.
Stanley is expected to employ up to 200 workers at a former ice rink at 7333 E. Rosewood St., near North Kolb Road and East Speedway.
The company oversees the printing, quality control and mailing of U.S. passports for the U.S. Department of State.
When operating at full capacity, the Tucson center will print and mail more than 10 million passports annually, the State Department said. Beginning in October, the center also is expected to produce between 800,000 and 2 million border-crossing cards annually.
The cards are visa documents issued to Mexican citizens who live near the United States border.
The Arlington, Va.-based company was named one of the 100 best companies to work for in 2007 by Fortune magazine.
