Genghis Grill The Mongolian Stir Fry will open its first Tucson outpost today, bringing with it more than 100 jobs, its owners say.
The restaurant, a joint venture between the Texas-based company and franchisees Clark Mandigo and William Rodriguez, is at 4386 N. Oracle Road, across the street from the Tucson Mall at Oracle and Wetmore roads.
The franchisees hope to open two to three more Genghis Grills in the Tucson area over the next three years, Rodriguez said.
Genghis "is the world's largest build-your-own stir-fry," said Brooke Chavez, who works with Mandigo and Rodriguez in opening restaurants in Texas, Las Vegas and Tucson, where Rodriguez grew up. The two men own several Papa John's Pizza restaurants in Tucson, Chavez said.
"Kids love it because we have the world's best strawberry lemonade and the chefs perform fire shows," Chavez said. "Moms like it because it's healthy food and dads like it because there's six TVs and a full bar."
