The Rogue Theatre heats things up a wee bit more with its current production of Itamar Moses' "The Four of Us," which winds up this weekend.
It's a rich little nonlinear comedy that'll make you laugh. The two characters (that's right, just two) are played by with joyous commitment by Matt Bowdren and John Shartzer. Cynthia Meier directs. The story is about two old friends who get together to celebrate the success of one of them - and good ol' jealousy pops in on the celebration.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rogue Theatre, 300 E. University Blvd. Whatever you do, don't miss the musical prelude, an outrageous piece of improvisation by the two stars. Tickets are $24; half-price student rush 15 minutes before curtain. 551-2053.

There's nothing more thrilling than being first - first to read a book, hear a new piece of music, see a play.
You can be first with Beowulf Alley Theatre's new play festival, "Page on the Stage."
Three local playwrights - John Vornholt, Gavin Kayner, and Jonathan Northover - will present staged readings of their works at the festival:
"The First Third" (Vornholt), about a group of college seniors waiting to see if their number comes up in the draft lottery at the height of the Vietnam War; "The Language of Flowers" (Kayner), a mystery, love story and maybe even a mysterious love story; and "A Work of Art" (Northover), about a painting that disappears.
The play fest begins Wednesday and continues through July 18 at Beowulf, 11 S. Sixth Ave. Tickets are $12 for a single play or $30 for the series. Call 882-0555 or check the website, www.beowulfalley.org, for specific times, dates and tickets.
