Its been a couple weeks since we had a day set aside to honor and bow down to a specially designated food item.
Thank goodness for today.
Oh, you haven’t heard? Yep, it’s International Sushi Day.
All day today you can nibble on the sweet heavenly concoction of rice and raw fish and do it in the name of some sort of culinary or national pride.
And if you head over to RA Sushi Bar Restaurant at La Encantada, 2905 E. Skyline Drive, you can get one of the restaurant’s signature Tootsy Maki when you buy an alcoholic drink. Not familiar with the Tootsy? Wrap your taste buds around this: Kani kama crab mix with shrimp and the fresh crispiness of cucumber rolled then topped with crunchy tempura bits before being drizzled with a sweet eel sauce. It’s sweet. It’s savory. It’s got mouth feel. It’s in a word heavenly.
