● Arizona Repertory Singers are celebrating America's musical spirit in their spring "Made in America" concert series. The 50-voice mixed choir will perform works by the giants of 20th-century American composing — Randall Thompson ("Alleluia"), Samuel Barber ("Reincarnations") and Morten Lauridsen ("Les Chansons des Roses") among them. The program also includes Daniel Pinkham's "Wedding Cantata."
The repertoire fits the singers, who over the past 24 seasons have borrowed equally from Renaissance music, 16th-century madrigals and classics, spirituals, Americana, modern music and new works commissioned for the group.
Concerts kick off at 3 p.m. Sunday at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway, and continue through the month: 3 p.m. April 13 at Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2331 E. Adams St.; 5 p.m. April 20 at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2800 W. Ina Road; and 3 p.m. April 27 at Benedictine Monastery, 800 N. Country Club Road.
