There are the Three Tenors — and the Three Mo Tenors.
Tucson has the Three Sopranos, a trio of talented vocalists — Korby Myrick, Maureen Papovich and Molly Holleran — who are regulars on local stages and with the Arizona Opera.
The three will join voices for a concert today of some of opera's most spectacular arias. The program includes Myrick and Holleran dueting on Handel's "Ariodante" and "Giuio Cesare." Holleran and Papovich join voices for Mozart's "Sull'aria," the famous duet from "Le Nozze di Figaro" that was used in the movie "Shawshank Redemption."
The women also will perform solos: Papovich will sing Rossini's "Barber of Seville" aria "Una voce poco fa"; Myrick will sing Mozart's "Parto, parto"; and Holleran will tackle Mozart's "Queen of the Night" aria from "Magic Flute." The concert rounds out with the trio performing several pieces including Bizet's "Carmen" card trio.
