Sonny Landreth
• Where: Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St.
• Begins: 8 p.m.
• Ticket price: $18 in advance and $19 at the door through the Rialto box office, 740-1000.
• Upsides: Landreth is Lafayette, La.'s answer to the blues. The guitarist is close friends with "Margaritaville's" Jimmy Buffett, can work wonders on the guitar and has six studio albums of material to choose from.
• Downsides: Landreth hasn't released a new studio album since 2003. One is in the works, according to his Web site, but there's no guarantee you'll hear tracks at the show.
Phillip Walker
• Where: Old Town Artisans, 201 N. Court Ave., Downtown

• Begins: 7:30 p.m.
• Ticket price: $18 in advance through Antigone Books and Enchanted Earthworks. $20 at the door.
• Upsides: Another son of Louisiana, Walker has played blues guitar with everyone from Clifton Chenier to Fats Domino and is second cousin to the late Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. If the cool temps hold up, Old Town Artisans should be the perfect location for a Friday night concert.
• Downsides: Sonny Landreth right down the street makes this the ultimate in tough calls.
