Judges were looking for a “wow” moment on Monday’s “Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro.” But two dancers apparently didn’t deliver, and one went home.
The real bummer: They “agreed” that silent moments would be a wow. And when the judges asked who was responsible, Erik Linder threw himself under the bus and said it was both their decision. Never mind we saw rehearsals with partner Selena Hamilton bossing him. She also wasn’t THAT good executing a few moves. But Linder went home.
Next week, the remaining five get amateurs to cover for them. That oughta out Hamilton.
AJ Pritchard and Nina Mayster were among the dancers tasked with creating unforgettable “wow” moments by incorporating one of Daniella Karagach’s signature moves into a viral-worthy routine Monday night on “Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.”
The week also was noted for showing a vulnerable side to AJ Pritchard. Told he’s too rigid (and wants to be perfect), he broke down in the rehearsal room and got hugs and props from Nina Mayster, his partner. They did a great contemporary dance (including a “koala” move that should be repeated), earned praises from the judges (including Shirley Ballas, who has been brutal), and learned a bit about trust.

Showing that softer side is, I believe, a way to show how well-rounded Pritchard is. He’s going to the finals and — I still think — the mothership, “Dancing with the Stars.”
Allen Genkin, who’s a pro at crying, and Adele Zaikman, who was called the “best female dancer” Shirley Ballas has seen, did a caveman walk, parallel feet and wowed. They’re both good and could be part of the final two.
But, we’re still Pritchard proud. He postponed his wedding just to get this opportunity. If that isn’t a trust fall, nothing is.
When he gets an amateur next week, the cracks could show. But we think that’s where he’ll really shine. And Hamilton? She’ll have to own up to any “joint” decisions she makes.
As a summer show, “The Next Pro” is quite good and a great way to help a newcomer rise to the level of the other pros.
Plus, as we told you last week, Pritchard has a huge social media following. And the judges admitted that it does play a role in the real competition. If he gets on “Dancing,” he’ll be ready to guide anyone.
