Six-month-old Sofia Ann Busse just gained celebrity status as she was named Baby Tucson 2015 by the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona.
More than 300 babies were entered into the diaper bank’s Baby Tucson Contest online between Oct. 10 and Dec. 31. Voting took place into February.
But, there could only be one winner.
At 364 votes, it was Sofia Ann by a landslide — 250 more than the second runner-up.
“Sofia’s father and I were thrilled when Sofia won the contest,” said Sofia’s mom, Holly Busse. “We kept a close eye on the contest and sent out messages through text and Facebook to get family and friends to vote. It really was a team effort to get Sofia all those votes.”
As ambassador for the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona, Sofia Ann will make appearances at community events throughout 2015 to help spread the word about diaper and incontinence need in Southern Arizona. And her face will appear on diaper bank outreach materials and social media sites.

While being parents of Tucson’s spokesbaby does come with certain bragging rights, Busse said they are honored and humbled by her daughter’s new role.
“It’s very neat to say that our Sofia is Baby Tucson 2015, but, we feel it is our family’s responsibility to share about all the wonderful things the Diaper Bank is doing for the community,” Busse said. “Our goal is to do our best to spread awareness about the huge diaper need in Arizona, increase donations and to bring positive attention to the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona.”
