Several people were arrested this weekend in Douglas and Nogales after attempting to smuggle drugs at the ports of entry, authorities said.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection news releases:
- On Sunday, Felipe Gabriel Lugo, 23, of Douglas, was arrested after federal officers found nearly 200 pounds of marijuana throughout his Chevrolet sedan at the Douglas port of entry. The marijuana was valued at about $99,000.
- Also on Sunday at the Dennis DeConcini crossing in Nogales, officers arrested Agustin Alcarez-Rivas, 42, of Hermosillo, Sonora after officers found 22 pounds of methamphetamine, and three pounds of heroin in the fuel tank of his Chevrolet truck. The total value of the drugs was estimated at $112,500.
- On Saturday, Keila Pedraza, 25, of Bakersfield, California, was arrested after more than 132 pounds of marijuana was found in the tires of her Toyota SUV at the Mariposa crossing in Nogales. The marijuana was valued at $66,000.

- On Friday, Stephanie Imperial-Muñoz , 22, of Agua Prieta, Sonora, was arrested after officers found more than 277 pounds of marijuana throughout her GMC SUV at the Douglas port of entry. The marijuana was valued at $138,500.
