Two people are facing drug and weapons charges after a tipster's call led officers to a Sierra Vista motel on Sunday.
The tipster told officers that a fugitive, Chadwick Springer, 31, of Sierra Vista, was staying at a motel on East Fry Boulevard, Sierra Vista police said in a news release.
Officers were talking to Christina Rubin, 34, of Sierra Vista, at the motel when they determined there was a gun in the room. Since she and Springer are convicted felons prohibited from having firearms, the officers got a search warrant and ultimately arrested the pair.
Officers said they found a loaded handgun, about 5 grams of methamphetamine and a usable amount of marijuana.
Springer was booked into the Cochise County jail on suspicion of prohibited possession of a firearm, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to register as a sex offender. Bond was set at $10,000.
