A businessman is collecting food, funds and clothing for four children whose mother was stabbed to death last month.
Their father is in jail on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the Oct. 12 death.
Now a Tucson gym owner is collecting nonperishable food, gift cards, blankets, towels, hygiene kits and clothes for the children of Marcella and Art Slatin. The couple have two sons, ages 3 and 16, and two daughters, ages 4 and 6, said Jeramy Price, owner of Ignite Fitness.
Each holiday season he holds a benefit to support a family in need. When he called his church this year asking about a family that could use help, he learned that the two youngest Slatin children attended pre-school at the church with his own son.
Since their mother’s death and father’s arrest, the Slatin children have been living with an aunt, but they are expected to move in with their grandmother soon, Price said.
