A man who was hit by a truck earlier in the month has died from his injuries, Tucson police said.
Christopher Osimea, 48, was transported to Banner University Medical Center on Sept. 3, after being struck by a truck while crossing East Speedway Boulevard.
Hospitalized since the collision, Osimea succumbed to his injuries on Monday, according to a post on the Tucson Police Department's Facebook page.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., Tucson Fire Department responded to reports of the collision, in the area of East Speedway Boulevard and North Olsen Avenue, and located Osimea in the roadway with obvious signs of trauma, the post said.
Traffic detectives with the Tucson Police Department continued the investigation, and learned that the driver of a 2001 Ford truck was traveling eastbound on Speedway when it struck Osimea just after he passed the raised median while crossing north to south. He was not in or near a crosswalk, the post said.

The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Speed and alcohol on the part of the driver were not a factor in the collision, and no citations were issued, the post said.
There have been eight pedestrian fatalities to date, compared with eight for the same time last year.
