The Downtown Parade of Lights is this evening.
The parade, in its 19th year, draws an eclectic mix of entries, that range from classic cars to “Star Wars” enthusiasts to accordion players. There are about 80 entries this year.
At 5:30, an hour before the parade begins, Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will light decorations on a tree planted at Armory Park about 10 years ago.
This year, the one-mile parade route begins at 17th Street and South Stone Avenue and heads north to Armory Park.
Entertainment at the park includes members of the Arizona Opera as well as other live performers. Bleachers will be located on Sixth Avenue near the park for a better view of the parade.
Earlier in the day, Santa Claus will make an appearance at the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum, 414 N. Toole Ave.
