The Tucson Police Department dealt with 297 reports of prostitution activity through the first eight months of this year, crime data show.
About two-thirds of the reports occurred along a two-mile stretch of North Oracle Road or near West Miracle Mile, parts of the city where prostitution activity has historically been heaviest.
The spot with the most activity so far this year has been the intersection of North Oracle Road and West Plata Street, halfway between West Grant Road and West Drachman Street. Through the end of August, Tucson Police had 32 reports of prostitution there, 20 of which came on June 29 and June 30.
The second-most active spot was about a mile to the north at West Glenn Street and North Balboa Avenue, a block east of Oracle. That area had 21 reports through August, including 11 on Aug. 29.

Other trouble spots include a two-mile corridor along North Alvernon Way from Grant to East Broadway, where more than 30 incidents have been reported this year, as well as near South Sixth Avenue and 22nd Street just south of Downtown.
Data also show that most of the arrests occurred in bunches, with 11 specific days having nine or more incidents.
