The Forest Service is partnering with commercial vendors in Arizona to offer ways for the public to purchase Christmas tree permits.
Beginning Saturday, permits can be purchased in Tucson at Big 5 Sporting Goods store, 5695 E. Speedway.
Christmas tree cutting season begins Nov. 19 and ends on Christmas Day.
Each Christmas tree permit is for a specified cutting area of the Apache-Sitgreaves, Coconino, Kaibab, Prescott, or Tonto National Forests, and costs $15. The Christmas Tree Hotline is 928 333-6267.
The Forest Service will grant one permit per household — for personal use only.
Some National Forest offices will also sell Christmas tree permits over the counter. Contact the National Forest for information on which offices are offering over-the-counter Christmas tree permits, and when they will be sold:
