A capybara named Chocolate is making her public debut at the Reid Park Zoo.
“She’s a very small capybara and is a bit shy,” said animal care supervisor Adam Ramsey in a news release Thursday from the zoo. “Guests can visit Chocolate in the capybara habitat in the South America loop. Take your time when trying to spot her, especially while she is settling in and getting to know her new home.”
Just over a year and a half old, she arrived from the Montgomery Zoo in Alabama.
Chocolate will share a habitat with the zoo’s black-necked swans and crested screamer. Her care team has observed that she enjoys the water and umbrella grass.
