Catalina Foothills High School’s Science Olympiad Team won the state tournament Saturday for the third straight year and will represent Arizona at the national competition.
Catalina Foothills’ 15-member Blue Team competed against 35 other Arizona high school teams Saturday at Glendale Community College and claimed first place in six of the contests 26 science events to win the Division C Tournament.
The high school earned first place victories in astronomy, chemistry lab, fossils, physics lab and elevated building events.
Members of the Blue Team are Angela Liu, Arun Debray, Briana Tully, Catherine Terrell, Davis Burk, Eli Alster, Grace Lin, Ian Choi, Isaac Hung, Jacquelyn De Sa, Jonathan D’Gama, Keenan Anderson, Miles Linscott, Rebecca Kennedy and Shoujit Banerjee.

Sutton Hathorn is the alternate and Catalina Foothills science teacher Kiki Moore coaches the team.
Other Southern Arizona high schools to finish in the top 10 at the state contest include fourth-place Canyon del Oro High School, fifth-place University High School, sixth-place Empire High School and Catalina Foothill's Silver Team finished in seventh.
The team next will represent Arizona in the national tournament May 21-22 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
