A woman has died of injuries she sustained when struck in a hit-and-run while trying to cross a midtown Tucson street, police said.
Jennifer Shalyn Zunda, 46, died May 18, Tucson police said Wednesday.
She was critically injured when struck on April 11 in the 1900 block of North Alvernon Way, by a passenger vehicle that fled the scene, the Tucson Police Department said in a news release.
Police said Zunda attempted to cross Alvernon from west to east, but was not in a marked or implied crosswalk, when she was struck by a vehicle traveling north on the street at about 8:30 p.m.. The vehicle, believed to have been traveling in the median lane, failed to stop.
Vehicle parts left behind along with video evidence indicated that the vehicle was a royal metallic blue Toyota Sequoia or Tundra. The vehicle and its driver have not been located, police said.
