What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Why: Sumhith is a Catalina Foothills High School senior. He heads Chess for Charity, which runs chess tournaments, mostly for children, and donates all the profits to local charities. He organizes the tournaments, finds a location to hold them, promotes them and then runs the event.
He has raised more than $3,500 for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona over the past few years, writes Satheesh Aradhyula, his father, in his nomination letter. Sumhith also founded Ragazona, which holds concerts and donates the profits to charities.
